悪魔の赤ちゃんの続編です。
前作から五年後ですが、
その後世界中で例の赤ちゃんが
誕生するようになったのですが、政府は妊娠中にそのことが
わかると、出産時に秘密裡にその赤ちゃんを殺してしまい
悪魔の赤ちゃん絶滅作戦に出ています。
それを知った前作の主人公フランクは
悪魔の赤ちゃん救出のため、数少ない賛同者とともに
世界中を飛び回っています。
話がでかくなってきました。
話がでかくなればなるほどこの手の話はバカ風味が増すものですが
まだ、「本気」と書いて「まじ」と読ませるような
テイストがにじみでていて
どのような姿勢で鑑賞していいか
こちらを悩ませます。
ちなみに仲間の赤ちゃんなんかも登場してきます。
名前はアダムとイブ。
どうやらこの赤ちゃん達は無駄なほど凶暴ですが
テレパシーが使えて仲間同士で
意思の疎通ができる、とか、普通の人間より早い速度で
成長する、という、part３にむけての
伏線もはられていきます。
まー なんですか。
異形の子供を持ってしまって
葛藤する親の心理やら
自分と違うものに対して行われる無自覚な差別、
あるいは意図的な差別、殺戮に対する怒り、
そんなテーマをしょいつつ
不完全燃焼なシリーズ第二作目というところであります。
不思議とこの映画のラスト、前作もそうですが
親が葛藤し、苦しみながらも子供を
殺さざるをえなくなるという悲しいラスト・・・・・・・・・・
になるはずなんですが
それまでの葛藤とはうらはらに、親があっさり子供を
殺しちゃうので
「今までまじめな態度で鑑賞してきましたが
それはかいかぶりでしたか？」と
つい問いただしたくなったりもいたします。
そして数年後。
道をふみはずしまくったパート３が世間に発表されるのです。
それはまたのちほど。
